The course begins by defining the term stuck pipe and introducing participants to the three major and three minor mechanisms that lead to stuck pipe incidents. Participants are then guided through the key contributing factors, including hole stability, wellbore geometry, hole cleaning efficiency, and wellbore pressure management, to develop a clear understanding of the primary causes of stuck pipe. On the second day, the focus shifts to stuck pipe avoidance and recovery. The course covers how to recognize and interpret early warning signs, appropriate first-response actions, proper jar placement, free-point determination techniques, and the selection and use of fishing tools, along with associated operational challenges. The program concludes with a discussion on sidetracking as a remedial option when recovery efforts are unsuccessful.
