COURSE OVERVIEW
PetroTeach offers a five-day course on Introduction to Petroleum Engineering, designed to address the key concepts and parameters encountered on a daily basis by petroleum engineers. The course provides an overview of the main disciplines within petroleum engineering and their respective roles, including geophysics, geology, petrophysics, drilling, well completion, classical reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, and field development planning. Subsurface data acquisition methods—such as coring, sampling, well logging, and well testing—are explained with practical examples to enhance understanding.
In addition, the program introduces related topics such as decision-making strategies, economic evaluation, and risk and uncertainty analysis and management. Overall, the course offers a comprehensive tour of drilling operations and field development projects, providing participants with a broad and integrated perspective of the petroleum engineering workflow.

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Kourosh Khadivi
Dr. Kourosh Khadivi is a highly proficient petroleum engineer with experience spanning operations, research, and consultancy environments. He has a strong technical background in classical and analytical production data analysis, integrated asset modeling, flow assurance, well and reservoir performance evaluation, well integrity, artificial lift systems, field development planning, data acquisition strategy, economic evaluation, IOR/EOR screening, production optimization, and reservoir management.
He worked with PETRONAS Research from 2011 to 2016, contributing to several Gas EOR and WAG optimization projects for major Malaysian fields. He has demonstrated expertise in integrated fracture network characterization, comprehensive sieve analysis for sand control design, and numerical pressure transient analysis.
He holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Petroleum Engineering and has developed three technical tools: Ensemble-Based Coreflood Modeling, Production Optimization, and Numerical Pressure Transient Analysis (NPTA).
FAQ
DESIGNED FOR
The course designed for engineers who work on the classical rock-fluid and pressure transient data as well as reservoir simulation. It can also be very useful for those who cooperate in the field development projects like drilling engineers, geologists, petrophysicists, production engineers and reservoir managers..
