COURSE OVERVIEW

This three-day course, led by an industry expert, explores the key challenges and opportunities for stakeholders and organizations seeking to enter the emerging CCUS supply chain. The potential rewards are significant—this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Achieving net-zero emissions during the energy transition requires the effective implementation of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) practices. Geological formations—particularly depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs and deep saline aquifers—have emerged as the most promising options for the permanent storage of CO₂. This is due to the availability of existing petroleum industry technology, expertise, and infrastructure, as well as the vast pore volumes available globally for storage.

The course examines the fundamental and practical aspects of underground CO₂ storage, including storage capacity estimation, screening and selection of suitable storage sites, and evaluation of associated uncertainties and risks. Participants will gain a structured understanding of how to assess and develop CO₂ storage projects in a technically sound and economically viable manner.
