COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is crucial for reservoir and petroleum engineers, as well as geologists and petrophysicists involved in reservoir surveillance, field development, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects. It provides an overview of the petrophysical knowledge required to understand and monitor EOR processes. The course addresses key logging milestones prior to injection, focusing on well integrity evaluation (including cement bond and corrosion log assessment) and strategies for selecting appropriate monitoring logs. During injection, logging techniques used to ensure injection efficiency—such as Production Logging Tools (PLT)—will be discussed. In addition, various monitoring logs, including Thermal Decay Time (TDT) and porosity logs, will be evaluated and interpreted both at the well level and between wells. Case studies on logging surveillance for EOR projects will be presented and discussed. The course will be conducted through group discussions, practical exercises, and the use of specialized software.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The learning objectiveof the top-most level content of the course are:
o Go through the petrophysical knowledge to understand the EOR process, and understand the strategy to select the logs for monitoring.
o Tackle the log monitoring milestones before injection in context of ensuring well integrity (cement and corrosion logs evaluation).
o Interpret the vertical and horizontal PLTs to evaluate the injection efficiency and zonal contribution.
o Evaluate and interpret the different monitoring logs (TDT and porosity) at well location and between wells.
o Demonstrate and discuss case studies on logging surveillance.
