DRL 323 7 – 11 Sep 2026 Online 3300
DRL 323 2– 6 Nov 2026 Cairo 4400

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course provides fundamental knowledge of the key aspects of drilling operations, including drilling fluids, drilled solids management, drill bits, drillstring design, casing and cementing, safety practices, directional drilling, and the tools used in drilling operations. It also addresses common drilling challenges such as stuck pipe and lost circulation.

On the first day, the entire drilling process and associated terminology are introduced, providing participants with a solid foundation and an understanding of the interacting variables involved in well construction.

The remainder of the course focuses on detailed discussions of rig equipment and the function of each component, drill bit types and bottom hole assembly (BHA) design, casing and cementing practices, lost circulation control, blowout prevention, and the concepts of underbalanced and overbalanced drilling.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This course puts all the contents together for an integrated system view of drilling well planning and construction. The course will cover the practical drilling engineering skills and the application of the technologies for non-engineers. Participants will learn the principles and concepts for the cause’s of the problems as well as the techniques employed to avoid such problems and predicting, detecting, and how they take the preventive actions to avoid such problems.

The course emphasis to establish a frame for oil and gas industry to let the non-engineers get and understand all the equipment is used in the drilling operations. This course covers the drilling risks and the drilling problems, the impact of these problems on production, formation damage, and treatment, solids control equipment, and waste management.
