COURSE OVERVIEW

Transportation of hydrocarbons takes many forms – by road, rail, marine vessels and pipelines. In any form or method oil and gas transport presents varying degrees of challenges and risks with respect to the safe and efficient movement of hydrocarbons. Those challenges and risks extend from the basics of design, construction and operations of each transport mode together with potential deficiencies in the inspection, maintenance and repair of each transport mode. Similarly, the potential hazards associated with oil and gas transportation itself —such as leaks, spills, collisions, and infrastructure failures are also in evidence.
In addition, those challenges and risks extend equally to the overall Logistics and Supply Chain’ element where the impact of potential disruptions, cross-border upsets, geopolitical factors, labour and storage shortages, breakdown in distribution networks and market volatility, all contribute to upsetting the smooth flow of transport movements. It is noted therefore that risks relating to oil and gas movements are particularly sensitive to the slightest upset throughout the whole logistical program.
In summary therefore, any movement requires a fully integrated and robust logistics management program to promote the best possible transition of goods from one location to another without upset; these include the provisions and expertise of procurement, legals, contracts, specialist transport contractors and sub-contractors, storage, handling and warehousing, port authorities, loading and discharging, customs, regulatory considerations, cyber-security threats, infrastructure wear and tear, etc.
This training course will provide all delegates with an invaluable insight into how oil and gas transport is moved from one location to another highlighting the types of risks and challenges associated with each of the transport modes. The course will consist of slide presentation, videos, case studies and interactive discussions.
