The course provides a complete overview through the Value Chain of the Management of Data, Tasks and Projects, Operations, Processes, Modelling Systems, Decision Gates and Planning, through the illustration of how Quantitative Best Practices can be applied for correct technical project Management for the benefit of QC and Mitigation of Investments. The Best Practices Management System will be illustrated with examples from New Ventures, Exploration, Appraisal and Production, and is to be applied in HC, Geothermal and CCUS Projects.

Using a Best Practice Management System, the course will illustrate, in a unique systematic way, all aspects of the management of projects involving subsurface new ventures, exploration, appraisal and exploitation/production. The course will go through data rooming, data management, system set up, subsurface and surface geophysical, geological en geo-engineering interpretations, and the decision-making processes for data acquisition campaigns such as seismic acquisition and drilling. Subsequently reservoir management, production planning, and facilities management will be discussed again in the framework of the decision gates and project workflow. Most important is the valorisation of company information (data and knowledge base), though data organisation and protection, and knowledge sharing. Key elements that will be discussed and QC management, the Value Assurance Process (VAP), Risk Register and uncertainty management, Company Organisation (Departments and Roles) and management of responsibilities, HR and HSE aspects. One of the most important elements is the outline of a system that permits to quantify value, risk and portfolio, not only from the Resources and Reserves point of view but in each and every step in the workflow. Participants will be actively involved with exercises on case studies and reporting, both individual and in groups, and an extensive course documentation will be provided.
