Day 2: Drilling Fluids, Mud Systems, and Properties

Primary Functions: Formation pressure control, lubricating/cooling the string, stabilizing wellbores, minimizing reservoir damage, logging evaluation assist, and corrosion limitation.
Mud Compositions: Fluid formulations; Reactive fractions (Bentonite for viscosity) vs. Inert fractions (Barite for density/weight).
Water-Base Muds (WBM): Native water, Calcium-treated, Dispersed, Saltwater-based, Low solids, and Polymer mud systems.
Non-Aqueous Muds (OBM/SBM): Mineral Oil-based systems, Synthetic-based fluids (Esters, Ethers, Polyglycols); Performance, environmental, and cost trade-offs

Day 3: Casing Strings, API Specs, Design, and Running Practices

• Casing Classifications & Architecture:
o String Types & Design Objectives: Conductor string (foundation, washing avoidance); Surface pipe (freshwater protection, BOP support); Intermediate string (isolating salt, shales, overpressure zones); Production casing; Liners (cemented, slotted, perforated, tiebacks).
• API Specifications & Operational Execution:
o Technical Specifications: Outer Diameter (OD), Weight (lbs/ft determining ID), Grade (C75, etc. for yield/tension allowable), Burst pressure, Collapse pressure, and Thread profiles (Buttress, Hydril, Integral).
o Rig Floor Operations: Tapered strings; Pipe tally; Hole preparation, mud conditioning, clearances, casing crews, running speed constraints, and landing/tensioning guidelines.

Day 4: Cementings Operations and Well-Control Mechanics

• Well Control & Pressure Dynamics:
o Pressure Management: Hydrostatic formula (0.052 x MW x TVD); Overbalanced, Balanced, and Underbalanced drilling regimes.
o Kick Detection & Mitigation: Kick indicators (pit gains, flow rate increases); Causes (swabbing, improper fill-ups); Gas-cut mud dynamics; Shut-in mechanics (Soft vs. Hard), casing shoe limitations, and kill weight mud implementation.

Day 5: Stuck Pipe Hazards, Directiobal, and Horizontal Engineering

• Stuck Pipe and Drilling Hazards:
o Mechanisms & Solutions: Differential sticking (static filter cakes, high forces); Mechanical sticking (Key seats, microdoglegs, ledges, mobile formations, under-gauge holes); Remedial actions (jarring down, torque application, spiral drill collars).
• Directional, Horizontal & Multilateral Wells:
o Trajectories & Surveying: Build & Hold, S-Shapes, and Continuous Build curves; Survey parameters (Inclination, Azimuth, Toolface).
o Deflection Tools & Systems: Whipstocks, Jet bits, Mud Motors / PDMs; Long, Medium, and short radius horizontal drilling system applications (advantages/disadvantages); Multilateral well junctions and branch architecture; Water/gas coning mitigation
