COURSE OVERVIEW
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to slickline and wireline operations, combining essential theoretical knowledge with practical field applications. Participants will gain hands-on understanding of wireline equipment, well intervention tools, rig-up procedures, and operational safety. Practical training is conducted at a specialized Test & Training Center in Norway, featuring a 300 m test well completed to 200 m depth, with 5.5” and 4.5” tubing, multiple SPMs, nipples, and re-completion options for different testing scenarios. The facility also provides dedicated clean and “dirty” classrooms, workshop facilities, a large surface-testing area, and experienced personnel to support practical training and testing activities.
The key topics covered in this course include:
○ Wireline equipment information and specifications. Barrier philosophy.
○ Sidepocket mandrels, downhole safety valve, tubing hanger and Xmas tree.
○ Rigging up wireline equipment and running in hole for pulling GLV/Latch Plug.
○ Inspection of different completion components in the classroom.
○ Preparation of wireline tools for running in hole, including kick-over tools for SPM (pull GLV) and GS for latching plug profiles.
○ Safety during wireline operations and emergency procedures.
