Advanced Petrophysics (PPH 207)

COURSE 0VERVIEW

This five-day comprehensive course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and practical skills in well test analysis and interpretation for petroleum engineers. It covers key concepts, methodologies, and advanced techniques required to evaluate well performance, determine reservoir properties, and optimize production. The course combines theoretical instruction with hands-on exercises, allowing participants to interpret real-world well test data and apply their knowledge to complex reservoir scenarios. The course is particularly relevant for reservoir engineers, reservoir geologists, and petrophysicists involved in reservoir modeling and characterization. Participants will learn various techniques for establishing Hydraulic Flow Units (HFUs) from core data. The course also covers methods for predicting HFUs in uncored wells and intervals using log-based approaches. In addition, it addresses the definition and application of Saturation Height Functions (SHFs) for different HFUs, derived from both capillary pressure data and log-based methods.

INSTRUCTOR

Mostafa Haggag

Mostafa Haggag

Mostafa Haggag has more than 36 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He began his career with Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company as a wellsite geologist and petrophysicist, where he worked for nearly 15 years. He later joined ADCO in the UAE, serving for 20 years as a Professional Petrophysicist. During his tenure at ADCO, he successfully managed and led a wide range of petrophysical activities with a high level of professionalism. In 2008, he was selected by the Drilling Division as “Man of the Month” in recognition of his efforts and contributions toward optimizing logging operations. Mr. Haggag served as ADCO’s Petrophysics Subject Matter Expert (SME) and chaired the Petrophysics Career Ladder Committee for six years. He also acted as a petrophysics coach, mentor, and verifier for CAMS for more than 15 years. Additionally, he was ADCO’s focal point to ADNOC for the 2017 data gathering cost optimization initiative and coordinated the finalization and execution of backlog well programs for new drilling projects.
