COURSE OVERVIEW

In the current pricing environment, cost savings and efficiency improvements are critical, and existing assets must be utilized to their fullest potential. Digital oilfield tools and techniques have proven effective in addressing optimization challenges in both conventional and unconventional production assets.

This one-day course provides an overview of Artificial Lift and Real-Time Optimization within the context of the Digital Oilfield. While traditional surface controls and remote management approaches remain important, modern production dynamics require greater integration of real-time downhole and surface sensing technologies. At the same time, many existing software tools are insufficient for fully analyzing and optimizing field data in dynamic operating environments.

The course is designed to give participants a practical overview of artificial lift challenges and production optimization strategies. With increasing pressure to optimize production under constrained cost conditions, it is essential to understand the opportunities and limitations associated with real-time measurements and optimization techniques.

In addition to covering the fundamentals of artificial lift and real-time monitoring, the training highlights how digital oilfield tools can be leveraged to improve performance. Topics include artificial lift selection, life-cycle analysis, and recent advances in real-time production monitoring and lift management, supported by field case studies.

The course concludes with an interactive session in which participants discuss their own operational challenges and explore practical strategies for implementing digital oilfield solutions in their assets.

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Rajan Chokshi

Dr. Rajan Chokshi works as an Artificial Lift and Production Optimization specialist with Accutant Solutions, a consulting firm based in Houston, USA. He brings over 34 years of experience across a national oil company, research consortia, consulting and software firms, and a service company, serving in roles including engineer, software developer, project manager, trainer, consultant, and senior business leader.

He has worked globally on projects involving multiphase flow, artificial lift, and production optimization, and regularly delivers webinars, workshops, and professional training programs through SPE and private forums.

As an Adjunct Faculty member, he has taught at Texas Tech University, Missouri University of Science & Technology, the University of Southern California, and currently at the University of Houston. He has served on several SPE committees, including Production & Facilities Advisory, Global Training, and Production Awards, and is the incoming Chair of the Awards & Recognition Committee. He has also co-chaired an SPE Artificial Lift Workshop and serves as co-chair of the SPE Forum on Production Issues in Unconventional Resources.
