Crustal Structure of Sedimentary Basins (GEO 110)

COURSE OUTLINE

o Continental sedimentary basins around the world:

o What do we know?

o Where do we have oil and gas?

o Tectonic evolution and crustal structure

o The West Siberian basin and the oil and gas rich basins of the East  Siberia

o Thermal structure of the sedimentary basins around the  world

o Structure and geological history:  an integrated interpretation of  gravity, magnetic and reflection seismic data

o Offshore sedimentary basins

o Arctic offshore sedimentary  basins

COURSE OVERVIEW

This three-day course is based on the most up-to-date knowledge of sedimentary basin formation and structural development. It explores theories on the origin of hydrocarbon deposits and examines the evolution of these theories across different sedimentary basins. The course provides a comprehensive overview of current understanding regarding basin structure, formation processes, and their relationship to hydrocarbon systems, offering participants a solid foundation in modern basin analysis.
