COURSE OVERVIEW

This five-day course is designed to provide a solid understanding of drillstring components and the principles of drillstring design. The program offers a comprehensive treatment of drillstring design, with emphasis on preventing operational problems and minimizing equipment wear. Design methodologies are presented in accordance with API recommended practices for design and operating limits, as well as the DS-1 standard for drillstring design and inspection.

Industry standards are incorporated as training references to complement the course material, ensuring participants gain a thorough understanding of drillstring components, design principles, operating limitations, inspection requirements, and best working practices.

INSTRUCTOR

Fayez Makkar

Fayez Makkar is a highly qualified Drilling Engineer with over 40 years of experience working with major oil and gas companies. His career has primarily focused on drilling operations, progressing from contractor roles to operator positions across a wide range of projects. He has been involved in drilling, workover, and completion operations, including logging interpretation and completion design. He possesses extensive experience in directional and horizontal drilling, as well as deep well operations both onshore and offshore, including wells with H₂S environments. His broad international experience has been gained through working with diverse teams across multiple countries and operating environments. In addition, he has extensive experience as a freelance drilling instructor and curriculum developer, delivering training programs for numerous international companies, particularly in the Middle East region.
