COURSE OVERVIEW

A 2-day workshop for non-Finance senior managers, enabling improved dialogue with the Finance Leadership team and Management in your organisation on key business finance topics. This workshop adopts a practical and interactive approach to business finance, structured around key topics delivered through conceptual introduction, real-world business cases, and group-based analysis. It focuses on building financial awareness for non-finance professionals by introducing core concepts such as financial statements, ratio analysis, and project evaluation. Participants will learn how business activities translate into financial outcomes and how to interpret key financial indicators. The course also covers basic profitability analysis and funding considerations for projects. Emphasis is placed on value-based management and using financial insights to support decision-making and business transformation. Through case studies and group discussions, participants will develop practical skills applicable to their own organizational context.

o Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Account and the Cash Flow statement).

o Project profitability analysis, project profitability enhancement and project funding.

o Value Based Management and Cost Optimisation.

INSTRUCTOR

Petro Teach Instructor

The Instructor MSc Business Economics Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands, has worked for 28 years with Shell Plc in various Finance roles most recently as Finance Director for Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd from 2016-2023 and as Finance Director for Sakhalin Energy in Russia from 2008-2011. In these roles Rob was a member of the Executive Board of these companies and responsible for Finance, Supply Chain Management and Internal Audit. He has left Shell Plc in 2023 and is now non-executive-board-member of Anson International Sdn Bhd in Brunei and guest lecturer for Corporate Finance at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
