COURSE OVERVIEW
This practical training course provides participants with a solid foundation in slickline operations, equipment, well control, and operational safety, combining classroom theory, hands-on workshop activities, and simulator-based training to create a complete learning experience.
The four-day program consists of two days of classroom theory, one day of hands-on Slickline BHA workshop training, and one day of simulator-based slickline operations and well control. Participants progress from slickline fundamentals, well construction, barriers, pressure-control equipment, and downhole tools to operational planning and practical BHA preparation.
During the hands-on workshop, participants gain practical experience in tool identification, BHA assembly and preparation, equipment handling, and operational procedures. The simulator-based training then allows participants to apply their knowledge in realistic operational scenarios, including rig-up, running in hole, depth correlation, tool response, basic jarring, downhole equipment manipulation, and securing the well.
This integrated Theory + Workshop + Simulator approach bridges the gap between classroom knowledge and field operations, helping participants develop greater technical confidence and operational awareness. Particular emphasis is placed on safe working practices, well barriers, pressure control, correct tool selection, and effective decision-making throughout slickline operations.

Day 1: Slickline Fundamentals – Theory

Day 3: Slickline BHA – Hands-on Workshop

INSTRUCTOR
Instructor
The instructor has more than 15 years of experience within the oil and gas industry, with a strong operational background in well intervention and well control. His experience includes supervision of wireline, coiled tubing and vessel-based intervention operations, combined with extensive experience as an IWCF instructor in both Well Intervention Pressure Control and Rotary Drilling. He is also an IWCF Technical Consultant, contributing to the development and review of IWCF programmes, syllabi and assessments. He has broad international experience from training and operational activities in countries including Brazil, USA, Indonesia, the UK and Denmark. In addition, he has extensive experience in course development, simulator-based training and delivery of technical training in both Norwegian and English.
