COURSE OVERVIEW

The course provides a fundamental and comprehensive introduction to structural geology. Participants will gain an understanding of geometrical, kinematical, and mechanical analyses, with strong emphasis on process-based interpretation. The program is designed as a balanced combination of classroom instruction and practical exercises. The first two days focus on the traditional principles of structural geology and structural style development. Days three to five concentrate on integrating structural concepts with other geoscience disciplines, demonstrating their value through practical examples and case studies.

The course also introduces key concepts that are considered essential by the structural geology community for applications within the petroleum industry.

This 5-day training course will focus on the following goals:

1.Build a common awareness of

o Key established and emerging structural geologic concepts

o Useful structural geologic tools and techniques

o Recent value-adding applications to projects

o Primary structural resources

  1. Develop a distinctive, consistent approach to structural analysis

o Integrated applications across the full spectrum of E&P projects
