COURSE OVERVIEW

This course provides a comprehensive review of all aspects of waterflooding, one of the most proven, cost-effective, and widely applicable enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods. It covers the full workflow of waterflood implementation, including preliminary screening of candidate fields, scheme planning, detailed project design (including pilot design), and estimation of incremental oil recovery and production performance.

The workshop also emphasizes effective individual and team responses to operational challenges, identification of early warning signs, and strategies to minimize operational risks and non-productive time (NPT). Through high-quality presentations, practical discussions, and carefully selected reference materials, participants strengthen their understanding of fundamental drilling and production-related practices.

In addition, the course addresses operational risks such as stuck pipe, covering all major types and recommended prevention procedures through proper operational analysis. It also discusses mitigation and remediation techniques, including freeing stuck pipe, hole cleaning practices and their impact on operations, as well as the use of fishing tools and proper jar operation and energizing techniques.
