DRL 338 2 – 6 Feb 2026 Stavanger 4400

COURSE OVERVIEW

This customized course is designed for well operations and engineering personnel who may have limited experience in measuring, managing, and controlling Tier 2 and Tier 3 well control incidents, including loss of well control and blowout events.

The purpose of the course is to develop a comprehensive understanding of well control assurance measures that proactively prevent and mitigate hazards, risks, root causes, and consequences that can escalate into Tier 3 uncontrolled blowouts. The goals and objectives are to ensure participants fully understand proven principles, field techniques, and operational practices required to regain and maintain well control using the safest and most efficient methods.

The program begins on Day 1 with a review and expansion of Tier 1 classical kick detection and control methods, reinforcing foundational well control principles. Days 2, 3, and 4 focus on advanced solutions and practical guidance to prevent, manage, and resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 well control events. An optional fifth day, tailored specifically for offshore wells, can be included if required to address offshore-specific well control challenges and operational considerations.
